Aspects of Planets in Birth Chart

Have you seen your Birth Chart? A Vedic Birth Chart shows the map of your life. In this map of houses 9 different planets take various positions. The house where a planet is positioned is most affected by the energy of the planet which sits in it but at the same time planet is able to see the other houses of the birth chart.

In other words, a planet sitting in particular house is able to send its energy to other houses which it can see. Imagine you sitting in the window of your house and a beautiful love partner sitting in another opposite house window.
Of course you get the energy(emotional) from the person in the other house which can be good or bad either. Now with the transfer of the energy that other house gets affected also. Similarly planets have their aspects on the other houses and depending on the placement of the planet, energy can be good or bad.

I will list out here the various planets with their aspects on the various houses. Energy, if good or bad, depends upon the good or bad placement of the planet with respect to the house and the other houses which it aspects.

There are two sets of planets:

1. Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus
2. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu(North node) and Ketu(South Node)

The first set of planets are also known as personal planets and cast only conjunction and opposition.

The second set of planets also cast the conjunction and opposition but in addition Jupiter casts trine; Mars casts the forward square and the forward quincunx; Saturn casts the forward sextile(3rd aspect) and backward square(10th aspect) and at last North node(Rahu) casts trine like jupiter.

Ascendant Matching: Your Ascendant and its Matching Ascendant

Hi,
I was going through my horoscope and was curious to know about the basis on which they have suggested the good ascendants for me. I searched for different articles on internet but they were not giving much of logical answers.

I think many people might know this what I am going to share today but, while I searched for the answer on the internet it was not there so, I thought I should put here what I found.

What I did to get the answer? Well! I simply opened horoscopes of few people and did some math to find out the astrological logic behind the suggested best ascendant for your own ascendant.
First I will share with you the list of best ascendants which they suggest for your ascendant. Look for you ascendant and see if you find the list in your own horoscope:

If you go through all the signs mentioned above you will find the logic behind the given suggestion. 

To understand the logic you also must have knowledge of all the Bhavas(houses) of the Birth chart. 

Now take the Aries ascendant, good ascendants for Aries ascendant are Cancer, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius. If you count the number with which these houses are away from Aries you will get 4, 7, 9 and 11 corresponding to Cancer, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius respectively.

Similarly if you count the number from Taurus to its corresponding good ascendants you will again get 4, 7, 9 and 11. Now the question is why they have chosen these numbers to indicated good ascendants for you?

The answer lies in the fact that 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses in your birth chart are the houses which represents pillars of your life. 4th house represents you family, 7th house represents you spouse and legal business partners.

 9th house is the house of fortune/luck, spirituality and travels and 11th house is the house of financial gains, friends and your social circle. 

These houses are the houses which bring happiness to you in one form or other to you. So, when your own self is attached with someone representing one of these houses of yours you may get gains of that particular house through that other person.

For example you are Aries ascendant and you get married to a Cancer ascendant person, Every time you are with that person, you will feel that you are at home. I think you get my point now.

Contradictory/Conflicting Gemstones Combinations

Hi,
Today, I was talking to someone who was wearing Ruby so as to reduce the malefic effects of Sun into his life. According to the birth chart,his Venus and Saturn are good  so, we were discussing if wearing one of their gemstones along with Ruby could make any difference.

We came to know that there are certain combinations of the gemstones which you should not wear. His Venus is good so, first I thought that wearing Diamond or its substitute was a good idea. Ruby will decrease the malefic affects from the Sun and Diamond will further strengthen the good affects of Venus.
But, we came to know that these two gemstones are contradictory means, you should not wear them together. I think the logic behind this astrological rule is the permanent planetary relations with each other.

As discussed in my previous article we saw that there are certain zodiac signs ruled by a specific planets where some other planets might get debilitated such as, Sun is debilitated in Libra which is ruled by Venus.
Similarly Saturn is debilitated in Aries which is ruled by Mars. So, if you take up their respective gemstone such as Ruby of Sun and Blue Sapphire of Saturn they must not be worn together because you see that Sun and Saturn are just opposite to each other.

Sun is exalted in Aries while Saturn is debilitated in Aries, Sun is debilitated in Libra which is mool-trikona sign of Venus so, also you should not wear Ruby with Diamond. I think you got the idea what I am saying.  This is more about the permanent friendly or bad relations between planets than being exaltation pr debilitation so, you have to dig deep into the mythological stories of their relations to each other.

Vedic Astrological System for Marriage Compatibility

In India most of the people consult the astrologer for matching the horoscope of the two individuals which wants to marry. The system which is used in north India is known as Ashta Kootas system.
According to this website askastrologer.com, there are three factors considered in match making :

1. Ashta Kootas
2. Kuja Doshas
3. Relationship of Planets

and many online websites use only the Ashta Kutaas basis for horoscope match which is of least importance. Kuja Dosha is also known as manglik Dosha which accounts for the ill effects of Mars.

• Ashta Kootas

There are following eight factors which are compared and matched according to the vedic system are considered to be important mainly in Northern India:

1. Varna Koota: This represents the individual nature of a person and is given a maximum weight equal to 1.
2. Vashya Koota:  This represents the mutual attraction between the couple, if matches, is given a maximum of 2 points.
3. Taara Koota/Dina Koota: For checking the mutual health and well being of couple this factor is given a maximum weight 3.
4. Yoni Koota: with maximum 4 points, this represents the sexual compatibility of the couple.
5. Graha Maitri: To check the intellectual and spiritual compatibility of the couple this factor is given an importance of 5.
6. Gana Koota: This is given 6 points when matched and represents the temperaments of the couple.
7. Bhakoot/ Rashi Koota: This is important for the emotional compatibility of the two and is given is maximum number of 7.
8. Naadi Koota: This represents Vata(cold), pitta(Heat) and Kapha(phlegm) in the body and same naadi is not matched. A maximum of 8 points are allotted if matched. 

When we add up the maximum allotted points to the 8 kootas we get a maximum number 36. In general a minimum matching number of 18 out of 36 is highly recommended.

• Kuja Dosha 

Kuja Dosha or Maglik dosha in any of the charts has to be checked for the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 10th house placement of Mars in both the charts.  Mars present in these houses will give ill effects to the marriage. However, if manglik dosha is present in both the charts, then it is said to get neutralized but, it is recommended that they must be of same intensity. 

Manglik dosha of 7th and house is said to be more harmful so, it has to checked properly.

Exalted or Debilitated Planets

Every planet has their own characteristics and nature, just like humans have. Each planet must lie within one of the 12 houses in our birth-chart. Each house has different zodiac sign. Depending upon the sign of the house, a planet may like it or not. 

Why is a Planet Exalted or Debilitated?

Mars loves to command an army and likes to have servants and soldiers around him to command. Sun, being the king, likes to have army commanders around him so as to protect his realm. This is the reason that Mars feels great when it is in Capricorn, and Sun feels best when it is in Aries sign. Please, note that Capricorn is ruled by Saturn who represent people who do labor work. While Aries is ruled by Mars, who is kind of commander to Sun. 

Each planet loves a certain sign so much that it feels exalted, most comfortable and most powerful when it is within that sign. On the contrary there is another house which the planet will not like at all. For example, Venus loves art, music and poetry, but it doesn't like to do business. Hence it gets debilitated when placed in Virgo. Virgo on the other hand is a sign of business, ruled by Mercury.  Similarly, depending upon the nature of the planet, each planet has a particular sign where it feels most insecure, afraid and therefore may harm these houses.

Arudha Lagna in your Birth Chart, Calculation Method and Meaning

today, I came to know about this another term in Vedic Astrology, "Arudha Lagna".  I don't get much of it but let me share with you, whatever I understood.

What does Arudha Lagna Signify? 

First of all "Arudha" is a Sanskrit word that means 'Half'.  Well, Arudha Lagna is not your true personality but this is the personality which people think of you. This is how you appear in the Maya world, in the materialistic world of money and power.

Now, let's know how to calculate Arudha Lagna in our birth chart.

Here are the steps to calculate Arudha Lagna:

1. Look at what house your ascendant lord (Lagna Lord) is placed and count the number of houses apart it is situated from your first house(Lagna). Counting is to be done along with the placement of the zodiac signs in their correct order. 
2. Now go the same number of places forward from the house where your Lagna lord is placed and that is your Arudh Lagna. (This is the information that I got from Kapiel Raaj of KRSchannel).

Example: 

Let's suppose your Ascendant sign is Libra. So Libra becomes the 1st house. Now if Venus(Ascendant lord) is situated in Sagittarius i.e. 3rd house.

Arudha Lagna in Libra Ascendant

So Venus is 3 houses apart from your Ascendant sign. Now put your finger at Sagittarius and count 1, take two steps further, you will reach Aquarius in the third count. So Aquarius becomes your Arudha Lagna. And Saturn is your Arudha Lagna Lord.

Exceptions:

I read two other articles on the internet and according to them, Rishi Parashar gave exception to the above rules. Here is this:

If your Lagna Lord is situated at the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses of your birth chart, then you will deduct 4 houses from the final count. This means you have to less for counts in the second step above mentioned.

Example:

Let's say your Ascendant lord of Libra Sign is placed in the seventh house of Aries. If you go seven counts further from Aries, you reach at the Libra again, but that is not what we do. Make four counts backward from Libra, and you reach the 10th house of Cancer. Hence, Cancer becomes the Arudha Lagna in this case.

Saturn in 2nd House of your Birthchart

Today I am going to discuss with you what happens when Saturn is in the 2nd house of your birth-chart.

Saturn

First of all we must understand the Saturn and its aspects and then the house in which it resides and aspects too.

Saturn is termed as a natural malefic planet because Saturn is about delay, rules, restrictions and discipline. Saturn aspects 1st, 3rd, 7th and 10th houses from its placement. So we must also understand those houses too.
Here second house is the first house of Saturn so, it will aspect 4th, 8th and 11th house too. It is assumed that Saturn's 3rd house aspect is much stronger as compared to the 7th and 10 house aspects.

Second house in your birth-chart is the house of your savings, your family assets, your speech, the kind of food that you intake and your constant saving assets.
4th house is the house of your family, your mother in specific, your childhood and childhood nourishment and your peace of mind.
8th house is known as the house of transformation, occult, death, your joint assets with spouse or partnerships and sexuality.
11th house is the house of gains, friends etc.

Now if you apply the logic, Saturn in 2nd house will restrict the family assets of the native maybe by separating the native from his family in early life or childhood, even if assets are there there will be strict rules and native will feel trapped. Even money savings until a particular time period will not be there.

Aspect on the 4th house will create problems in the relation with the mother, mother nourishment may be lacking and peace of mind will not be there. Also it may result a pressure on the mother because it will be difficult for her to handle or nourish the child under some extra pressure. This position is good for the relationship with native's uncle.

Aspect on the 8th house will give the native a long life but the joint assets with the spouse and business partners might be restricted for certain time period of life.

Aspect on the 11th house will restrict the gains of your effort. Native may be a doctor, Engineer or may have very good knowledge in the world but the amount of money which comes in the form of income will be 1/4 or 1/3rd as compared to the others of the same level of people.

Remember Saturn will release the native from all the restrictions to their wealth and peace of mind once he has taught them the way and importance of things. So after the mid-life of the native these people are the one who will become the wealthiest in the world because they know and have learned all the rules.

It is assumed that at or after the age of 35, you will see Saturn giving you all the wealth that you haven't even imagined before.

What is 1st house and 7th House?

To understand this in logical manner let's, first understand what does 7th house signify and what the first house signify.
7th house in your birth chart is the house of spouse or say legal marriage partner, this house governs various other legal partnerships such as your business partnerships or any other partnership with people in general.
Now, what does your 1st house represent? It represent your self, your physical body as a whole.

How to find the Lord of Houses?

Depending upon your ascendant sign, the lord of the 7th house will vary from Sun to Moon (one of the nine planets.)  If your ascendant lies in Aries sign, then your ascendant lord is Mars. In this case, your 7th house will be occupied by Libra, which is ruled by Venus, hence your 7th lord will be Venus. 

Similarly if your Ascendant sign is Capricorn then Saturn is your ascendant lord, while the 7th house from Carpricorn(count as one) will be Cancer, and hence your 7th lord is Moon. 

When 7th lord is in 1st house

So, can you judge what will happen when 7th lord comes into your 1st house? See, as the 7th lord will represent either your spouse or your other legal business partners so, this shows that you will have people coming to you for the marriage and business partnerships. You don't have to go to them but what kind of partnerships they will bring with them depends upon the 7th lord and the sign of the first house.

When 7th lord is in comfortable sign

If the 7th lord planet is comfortable with the zodiac sign of 1st house, this will result in a harmonious marriage with your spouse, you will identify yourself with your spouse. You have to be in relationship to identify yourself. You will feel lost if you are not in a relationship.

For you, your partner becomes your way to express yourself to the word.  If it is not there you will feel that you have lost your self. 

When 7th lord is not in comfortable sign

 If 7th lord is not comfortable in the 1st house, for example Sun is not comfortable with Saturn and also with Venus, then Sun is going to trouble you. Most probably your partner will remain with you your whole life, but relation between you two will remain troubled. Most likely you will have physical ailments related to that planet.
